The 2014 version of the National Electrical Code (NEC, Code)
expands and clarifies the purpose of the Code. “The Code is intended to be used
by those skilled and knowledgeable in electrical theory, electrical systems,
construction, and the installation and operation of electrical equipment. It is
not a design specification standard or instruction manual for the untrained and
unqualified (NFPA70: 90.1).”
